Baby Plants and Mental Health Chats – Week 17

Baby Plants and Mental Health Chats – Week 17

Right, I decided to try writing up little updates every week so I have some sort of ‘diary’ for myself. I tried journaling and things like that but I don’t stick to them. So let’s try this instead! This week is all about mental health and baby plants, yay.

As this is week is week 17 of the year I’ll label it Week 17 even though it is the first post, hope that makes sense!

Talking to a Doctor about my Mental Health – My biggest Achievement this week

Something I am almost proud of is finally opening up to my GP about my mental health. Here’s little back story: I did try to talk to another GP before about being stressed, anxious and not being able to speak. And he literally told me (and I quote) ‘we are all a little stressed sometimes’ and sent me back home. Thanks for nothing!

That’s a few months ago and I was so worried talking to another doctor and making the same experience. I already feel like I am ‘exaggerating’ and ‘being dramatic’ about my anxiety and mental health so a doctor basically telling me to suck it up really hurt. So it took me a long time to build up the courage to talk to someone else.

And I am so glad I did! My new GP takes me very seriously and is trying to help. I don’t want to go into too much detail about it yet as things are going rather slow and it is important to me to approach things without preconceptions.
But once things are happening I definitely want to talk about them πŸ™‚

So, if you are feeling like you might need to talk to someone about your mental health or anything else really: DO IT! And if they don’t take you seriously, talk to someone else! Your feelings are valid and just because a doctor dismisses you, doesn’t mean you are wrong. Maybe they are just not a good fit for you.

I know this sounds easier than done. I’ve been there. But you cannot believe the relief I felt when my new doctor immediately supported me. I was so relieved I started crying, lol.

Things that made me happy this Week

Getting new Baby Plants delivered

Since moving to Germany and finally having space I have become obsessed with house plants! I loves them before but there just wasn’t any space for them.

But now there is space and this week I ordered some new Baby Plants that I adore! Do I really need to explain why that makes me happy?!

As we are still in lockdown and most shops are shut, I ordered them via PLNTS. And realistically, without a car I can’t get to a Garden Centre anyway. PLNTS has lots of different sized plants and I just love the little babies, I got way too many of them. Below you can see a small selection of my current order.

Going to the Hairdresser

Finally! Last time I went to the hairdresser was in December 2019, just before Connor and I got married. So it was time! I have been trying the Curly Hair Method and my hair was way too long and heavy for it so this chop did wonders for my hair.

Just look at this before and after:

For the first time I also got my eyebrows tinted. Something I wanted to try for ages but was worried about. My eyebrows are almost see-through and I thought that any colour might be too much colour. But as I don’t have a social life at the moment (thanks COVID) I tried it. And what can I say? I love it!

Online Curry Night with Family

Last night we met up with part of Connor’s Family online to cook a curry together. We all got the same Bang Curry Box and chose the same curry to cook to have a meal ‘together’. It was so lovely to spend time together, chatting and cooking.

Plus, the curry was so so good! The issue where we live: The only Indian takeaway we can get is so rubbish. They have the standard German ‘yellow curry’, that’s it. So having this was so so good!

It was a little spicy though so next tome we’ll use less spice mix per serving, haha. So we’ll have even more servings than the Box suggests and I don’t start sweating while eating, win – win.

Listening to Taylor Swift on Repeat

Does this even need explaining? Since Taylor Swift released Fearless (Taylor’s Version) I have been listening to the album on repeat. And can we talk about Mr. Perfectly Fine?! How perfect is this song?!

What’s your favourite song from the Vault?

Right, that’s my first weekly round up post, I hope you liked it as there will be many more, hehe.

See you next week!
